Matcha Lemonade

Nothing is more thirst quenching than an ice cold lemonade. This recipe isn't your average glass of lemonade, though. We've taken the classic summer staple and added what we're known best for, super smooth Japanese matcha.

Here's the secret: We perfected this recipe during our summer festival pop-ups, and trust us, it was our bestselling drink. The key lies in the perfect lemonade base with a squeeze of lime. For the most delicious results, you want a lime with thin skin that gives slightly when squeezed gently.

You can make a batch of lemonade and keep it in the fridge, then whisk up a matcha shot when you're ready to have a glass.

INGREDIENTS

  • Juice of 4 lemons
  • Juice of 2 limes
  • 6 tbsp simple syrup (or to taste)
  • 4 cups of water
  • Fresh mint leaves
  • 1 teaspoon Amoda Japanese Matcha

METHOD

  1. In a pitcher, combine the lemon juice, lime juice, simple syrup, and water. Stir to combine.
  2. Muddle a few mint leaves in a glass, add a handful of ice. Fill 3/4 full with lemonade.
  3. Separately, whisk 1 teaspoon of matcha with 2 oz hot water. Pour your matcha over your lemonade. Stir to combine, and sweeten more if desired.

How to make simple syrup:

1 cup water
1 cup cane sugar or coconut sugar

In a saucepan, bring the water just to a boil. Turn the heat down to a simmer and add the sugar. Stir until dissolved. Simmer for about 5 minutes, keeping your eye on it to make sure it doesn't get too hot and bubble over. Turn off the heat and let cool before storing in the fridge.
