Tea has always been a popular gift around Mother's Day. Tea is such a heart-warming gift and something that can be given on its own, paired with homemade baked goodies or shared or served as part of Mother's Day brunch.
We've put together some exciting tea gifts this year! To introduce our Mother's Day Gift sets this year, we thought we'd walk you through the inspiration behind each one, which also acts a bit of a guide to a tea lover's heart. Here goes...
Mother's Day Brunch or Breakfast in Bed
Inspired by one of our curated teas, Heavenly Cream, make her a delicious stack of tea pancakes. We thought this would be ideal for a husband to make breakfast in bed, but these can also be made if you're hosting Mother's Day brunch! You can use the Heavenly Cream tea or any earl grey tea you have at home.
You can infuse the tea in up to 3 different elements of this breakfast: the pancakes, the maple syrup and the butter. Why not do all three?
Heavenly Cream or Earl Grey Syrup
In a small saucepan, combine 1/2 cup of maple syrup or honey with 3 teaspoons of Heavenly Cream or Earl Grey tea. If using honey, you can add a teaspoon of vanilla extract also. Bring to a simmer and add the tea. Remove from the heat and steep covered for at least 5 minutes. Strain out the tea leaves and let cool.
Heavenly Cream Infused Pancakes
Take your favourite pancake recipe (or pancake mix if you're in a pinch). All you're going to do is steep the tea into the liquid - water or milk, whichever your recipe calls for. We like this recipe, just leave out the matcha. Adding the tea takes some planning ahead though because an overnight cold steep is where its at to ensure no bitterness. So, simply add 3 teaspoons of tea for every 1 cup of liquid (water or milk). Steep overnight in the fridge and use it the morning in your pancakes.
Heavenly Cream Infused Butter
Who doesn't love to melt a ton of butter on top of their pancakes? Okay, probably a lot of people... but for those who do, infusing tea into the butter takes pancakes to the next level. Take 1.5 teaspoons of tea for every 1 tablespoon of butter. Melt the butter in a saucepan, add the tea leaves and leave on low for 5 minutes. Strain out the tea leaves and squeeze out the butter as best you can. Let the butter cool to room temperature, reform in plastic wrap if you like, and serve with your pancakes.
OMG, right?
So once you have this amazing breakfast made, you need a variety of amazing teas to offer her or your brunch guests. Best option? Our Mother's Day Spring Sampler! 4 different teas, a variety of caffeine levels and taste profiles. There's sure to be a tea for everyone to love!
Not so keen on pancakes or want to offer some variety at brunch? Make this to-die-for vegan matcha french toast. The great thing about french toast is if you have gluten free guests, you can soak their bread first and you don't need to make two completely separate batches like you would with pancakes. Also, this vegan version is even better than original french toast. Get the recipe for vegan Matcha French Toast here.
If you've decided that matcha french toast will be on the menu, we're assuming you are or your mom is a major matcha fan. So... why not gift our Matcha Momma Mother's Day Set?
2. Matcha Momma - Mother's Day Gift Set
umm... did you see those ceremonial-grade matcha chocolates?
Another popular mother's day activity is the spa-day. Relaxation for mom. She deserves it, right! If mom is also a tea lover then we bet a lot of her zen is induced by tea. Here's our thoughts on a tea-based spa day.
Relax with a Matcha Facial Mask
So easy!! Mix 1 teaspoon of matcha into 1 teaspoon of raw honey. Mix it and slather it on your face. Matcha is full of antioxidants and honey is moisturizing and soothing. If you make this in a larger batch and store it, make sure you use a container that blocks the light from oxidizing the matcha.
Sip Soothing Tea
Also, very easy.. so easy I almost feel silly mentioning it. Get mom some super tasty teas with herbs that are known to soothe - like lavender or chamomile.
Soak in a tub full of aromatic soothing tea & herbs
This one might take a bit of instruction. Mix up a blend of 3 relaxing herbs. Choose from lavender, chamomile, lemon balm, calendula, rose petals, linden or rosemary. Equal parts of each is just fine or you can use 2:1 of your favourite scent. Add in oatmeal for soothing or epsom salts for muscle relaxing.
At bath time, she simply brings 4 cups of water to a boil in a saucepan. Add a 1/2 cup of the tub tea, remove from the heat and steep for 30 minutes. Strain off the tea and pour into the bath.
Want us to help? Pick up our organic Classic Matcha to make the facial mask. This is high quality matcha at a price point (less than $0.50 per tsp) that makes it OK to rub on your face.
This set includes two teas of your choice (25g of each), a 'perfect cup of tea' spoon, biodegradable tea filters and our limited edition organic herbal tub tea. The tub tea is an organic blend of yarrow flowers, yarrow leaf, chamomile, lavender, calendula and lemon balm. This blend will sooth and soften skin and make the bath smell amazing.
Last, but not least, here are two tea sets to spoil mom or simply get her set up with an essential tea infuser and a high quality tea.
It's a little indulgent... we know. But it's also incredibly pretty and special. Just like she is :) This is a gift she wouldn't buy for herself. Spoil her. This set comes with a 100g pouch of tea as well.
She'll love upgrading her tea-steeping style with this infuser and tea set. The stainless steel tea filter is elegant and convenient. Our favourite way to make a mug of tea at home or at work is with this brew-in-a-mug style infuser. This set also comes with a 100g pouch of tea.
Alright, you're all set for Mother's Day now! We hope our Mother's Day guide for tea lovers has helped get the creative juices going or helped take the "what should I buy her!?!" weight off your shoulders.
Mother's Day is May 14th!
